Vocational & Community-Based Support
At DHS Supported Living Services Ltd, we believe that meaningful support goes beyond personal care. Our vocational and community-based support services help individuals develop practical skills, build confidence and take part in opportunities that are important to them.
We work alongside each person to understand their interests, goals and aspirations, providing personalised support that encourages independence and helps them become more involved in their local community.
Whether you want to develop new skills, explore education or employment opportunities, take part in social activities or become more independent, our team is here to support you.
Building Skills, Confidence and Independence
Our vocational and community-based support is designed to help individuals develop the confidence and skills they need to take part in everyday life and achieve their personal goals.
Our support can include:
Education & Employment Support
We support individuals who want to explore education, training or employment opportunities.
Support may include assistance with college or training applications, exploring suitable opportunities, preparing for interviews and developing confidence in new environments.
Where appropriate, we can also provide support with transitions into education, training or the workplace.
Social & Recreational Activities
Taking part in activities and spending time with others can play an important role in overall wellbeing.
We encourage individuals to explore hobbies and interests, attend community events and take part in leisure activities that they enjoy.
Our support is focused on helping people build social connections, develop confidence and enjoy meaningful experiences within their community.
Advocacy & Independence Training
We support individuals to develop the skills and confidence they need to express their views, make informed choices and speak up for themselves.
Support may include guidance with self-advocacy, budgeting, managing everyday responsibilities and developing practical skills for independent living.
Our aim is to help individuals have greater choice and control over their lives.
Life Skills & Personal Development
Developing practical life skills can help individuals become more confident and independent in their everyday lives.
Depending on individual needs and goals, support may include developing skills around household routines, managing money, planning activities, making decisions and accessing local services.
We encourage individuals to build on their existing strengths and develop new skills at their own pace.
Community Access & Inclusion
We support individuals to access their local community and take part in activities and opportunities that are meaningful to them.
This may include support with attending appointments, accessing local facilities, using public transport or taking part in community activities.
Our aim is to help individuals feel more confident, connected and included within their community.
We always aim to provide support in a person-centred and encouraging way, helping each individual build confidence, develop independence and work towards their personal goals.
